“Disappointments after disappointments, what else can go wrong?”
—
Ya know, sometimes you spend time doing something, and end up with less than what you started out with. And it is at those times I beseech the gods that I will not run into such situations.
How could the vast facet of space be devoid of any signs of life yet be so full of wonder?
The space around the ship ruptured and I landed amid a cloud resembling one of toxic gas. No damage was inflicted and so I remained.
A quick appraisal of the area around me, nothing besides the cloud, and nothing of value.
Making time I moved on head strong to my next solar system.

Scavenging for an artifact, any artifact, I let rip my blazing 150mm railguns and they assault into two scanner arrays, one after the next.
The explosions went off one after the other, taking all of the useful pieces there could be left with them.
Gone.
This has been a long day. It is time for me to take a break, maybe I will have better luck after a good sleep.
The Harpy turned around and in one smooth swoop, was sucked into the warp vacuum and all that was left behind were debris and three wind streaks.

“Have you ever gotten one of those super rare hauler spawns, or come upon a random wreck filled with unprecedented stuffings?
I have!”

I must say, I am an opportunist, taking advantage of the situation for personal gain. This goes without saying that I am not just a pretentious bastard.
My intuition has led me to lavishing gifts that satisfy my meager materialistic mentality, and then have me begging for more.
Still don’t understand? Allow me to extrapolate.
Oh ya, it would be fallacious of me to claim my discoveries and wealth as great exploits, so I shall only reveal to you the most compelling of my findings.

I am not a hedonist by nature, at least not when I simply enjoy what I do. And even if I was, it could only be natural for any capsuleer to foster such conscience.
My face lit up like the brightest sun in the galaxy as I entered my treasure chest. It had been my heyday, as I had collected a worthy prize from an exalted foe.
This piece was immaculate, I had never seen it before with my own eyes or felt it with my own hands, and I debated whether if this rare artifact was equal to be matched it my skill.
Since I did not want to jump the gun, and beside such, this was only one piece of the complete set and I despise hoarding things. I flew to 4-4 to put out a notice to anyone who wished to relieve me of this thing.
It felt safe in 4-4, even though plenty of malevolent persons were lurking in the shadows, grasping at any fool they can get their dirty paws on to bum a few hundred million.
Now that I had time and reconsidered, this feeling of protection was only elevated due to the insecurity I had with my package outside in space where people can scan my ship down and gank me, but once the right people were contacted, I exchanged my first, and most possibly only, Low-Grade Crystal implant for a cool 90 million.
I did not know who they were working for, and neither did I inquire. For me it was a policy of privacy. Done and done.
I was back aboard my puny assault frigate again, sensing my insignificance in the vast universe; that treasured item to me was probably just another toy for an even richer linchpin. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure applies here.
But the always bright and ever present opportunist in me made me give undock instructions, persuading me to cavort in the notorious facets of space.
