T3 Cruisers

Ever since Apocrypha has been released, I’ve been saving ISK, training skills, and fooling around in EFT theorycrafting and trying to improve fittings for strategic cruisers.

Recently I have finally been able to save around 3 billion ISK for this project and I thought I’d leave my setups for the community to discuss and improve upon.

All of these setups are meant for 1v1 and 1v2 situations (yes I know that’s rare with the ProviBlob situation, but still).

Hammerhead II x5
Hammerhead II x5
Warrior II x10
Vespa EC-600 x5

A ship designed with a heavy tank for popping in, neuting their capacitor, ganking, and getting away quickly.

At more than 350 DPS and no cap for the opposition it should be able to break the tanks of most battleships and smaller T1 ships.  Should be neutralizer resistant by using 400 charges.

The plan is to orbit just inside of warp scrambler range (11km) and hit them with RF EMP while neuting them dry with duel cycling medium neuts (ship has bonus to amount) at the same time letting the drones on them.

If crap happens, neut them, MWD away and warp off, cloaking at safespot.

Interceptors can be easily taken care of by capacitor neutralizers as well as Warrior II drones.  Flies very similar to the Curse but it has more options and more EHP (+100k).

Hornet EC-300 x5

Very similar to the Legion, another ship designed with a heavy tank for popping in, ganking, and getting away quickly.

At more than 700 DPS (with perfect skills and drones, 600 with my planned) it should be able to break the tanks of most battleships and smaller T1 ships.  This however is not neutralizer resistant.

The plan is to orbit up close and hitting them with everything and the MWD is turned off (or most likely scrambled).  A pretty heavy tank to withstand most attacks while killing the enemy ship.

If crap happens, there is quite a limited option to escape, but the best would be to try to MWD away.  No neutralizers makes it a lot trickier and targets must be picked with precision.

Interceptors will take skill to be taken care of, but they can definitely be webbed and scrambled at almost 20km when overheated while Warrior II drones take care of them.  Should handle very closely to the Brutix and the Myrmidon while cruiser sized and a whole lotta more EHP.

Warrior II x5
Warrior II x5

A ship designed with a pretty good tank for hit and runs, ganking smaller ships and getting away quickly.

At more than 450 DPS, it has many options to kill ships battlecruisers and other smaller T1 ships.

The plan is to orbit just outside of warp scrambler range this time (11km) and hit them with RF EMP or Barrage while letting the drones on them, pinning them down with the 28k point.

If crap happens, best option is to MWD away and warp off, cloaking at safespot.

Interceptors should be easily taken care of by the capacitor neutralizer when close or just by Barrage ammo as well as Warrior II drones.  This setup should be flow like the Vagabond, and Vagabonds are very nice ships; this just has more EHP at nearly 80k or up to 90k if the ambit extension is replaced by another extender.

Tips and feedback are appreciated.

LOKI: “At more than 450 DPS, it has many options to kill ships battlecruisers and other smaller T1 ships.Should be neutralizer resistant by using 400 charges.”

I can’t find the Cap-booster in your setup. ^^ … But aside from that, the setups look nice. I’m also looking forward to building a Loki for PvP. Maybe a Tengu for PvE…

Why not a Tengu fit?

And why you insist in using a Cloak? Why not the Cov Ops subsystem? Sure you lose DPS but if you plan to cloak you might as well do it properly! :-)

@Quivering Palm- cloak is used because given the nature of the fighting we do, a cloak is too useful in Catch/ Providence not to fit. The amount of camps we have to run is unreal.

Fitting the CovOps subsytems nerfs the Loki really badly, so it’s best not to.

@DocFloyd
Thank you for that correction. A good point to make or else that could put me in some bad troubles!

@Quivering Palm
No Tengu fit because I can’t seem to find a Tengu fit that can up my Nighthawk yet. Seriously! The cloak, as Ombey explains, is just a necessity in guerrilla warfare “hit and fade”.

@Ombey
Correct, the CovOps subsystem won’t correlate with the “fighter” role.

Ok, where to start….

First drop the cloak, it gimps your setup and is really not needed. If you gank someone, you warp off. Create some safespots and keep warping from safe to safe for 15 minutes and wait for your aggro timer to clear. If your still camped by then, just log off for a bit.

Then your proteus setup. The idea is not bad, can use a bit of improvement though. Try changing it to something like this:

You see what I did here? I switch the engineering subsystem for the power core multiplier. Gives you a lot more grid to play with.

Because of this you now have an extra gun, so you can drop a magstab and keep about the same dps. This gives you the ability to drop in an explosive hardener so you can switch your rigs to all trimarks. And you have extra grid to play with, so the second plate can be a 1600mm too. All in all this gives a huge increase in hp.

Also on a ship that costs this much, and looking at the mods you are using, at least use an amarr navy eanm instead of t2. They cost about 30mil, so it will not break your bank.

Another thing you could very well upgrade on is the trimarks. If you stick t2’s in there you’ll get a nice hp increase. They cost a bit though about 65-70 mil per rig.

Also get the zet300 and zet500 hardwirings to give you +3% armor and structure hp.

I use a similar setup to this. A little variation though:

@RiotRick
I will most def take a look into your setup I know you are a winner in the T3 ship category. In fact I must say you really helped to inspire me to train for them!
