Weekend Summary #5

Skills

Over the last bit I have learned how to operate all shield related gang links. Right now I am training towards the mining gang links in anticipation for the Orca.

My plan right now is to finish some miscellaneous skills like overheating and then adjust my attributes for training missiles, spaceships, and guns related skills.  With this it seems the next year of skills are set for me!

PvE

Big news in this sector. My friends and I have started to run level 5 missions. So far we have completed 3, but only because the going does get quite tough!  They hand out good bounty for how long it takes; about 12,000 each for 45 minutes of work!

I am still working on more of those missions in a minute videos so there will be some more of that too.

In the spare times, I am trying to find some exploration sites but to no avail I just keep seeing wormholes. Keeping a log for escalations is my top priority right now when I do these sites.

PvP

I have attempted to do some PvP in my favorite frigate, the Incursus. So far I’ve killed a Merlin and lost two of it. I’m seeking more targets, so things should get more exciting!

Industry & Trade

Things have slowed down. My limited supply of invented BPC is killing my money flow. Less successes means less money earned, meaning more time needed, equaling in more money used.

My store has opened so if you want to purchase anything feel free. It is free delivery! I am at the same time researching a lot more blueprints to try to open some more doors.

Wealth

Wallet floating at 2 billion straight as I try to figure out what to do. I still have to set money aside for the line of Minmatar and Amarr ships I will buy, plus I am trying to fill my hanger with an Eagle, Rokh, Megathron, Blackbird, Crow, Ferox, and any other ships I don’t have but I can fly.

I don’t want to risk my new Brutix trying to do PvP with it because I know I will lose but it would be fun to scrimmage.

Other than that, there is only about another 100 million on the market and 50k LP points; hopefully that can convert to a smooth 75 million.

Question

Now it is your turn, what have you been doing?

Login Screen

Magnate

Note that it’s not as good of a looking ship as it was.

Mining Laser

Note that in my opinion, mining still sucks with shinier graphics

Tengu Strategic Cruiser

Note that most of them look like a variation of the Drake and the name reminds me of a penguin.

Tractor Beam Effects

Warp Effects

Wormhole Effects

Note that on SiSi, it seems that they are spawned at almost every POS just as an effect and cannot be activated. And yes, that is the new POS bubble, not a moon, and again, yes, there are two unpiloted dreads sitting in the bubble.

I Have Been A Bad Boy

I must admit, over the last few days, I have committed some questionable crimes.

Mostly it was just scanning down mission runners and etcetera in my home system, but doing so led me to a few other fun opportunities.

One example, was when I probed down a Hulk running a mining mission.  He had to mine a certain amount of a special kind of “Dark Ochre” from this single asteroid in his mission deadspace.  I thought maybe I can have some fun with this guy.  When I first arrived on the scene, his Hulk sat motionless close to some hallowed out asteroids.  I quickly pulled out my mining Rokh, thank goodness it was fitted and ready to go, and flew back to the rock.  The Hulk pilot still remained motionless where he had been.  So I turned all 8 of my Miner II’s on this asteroid and began jettisoning it out.

About five minutes later the pilot finally starts to approach the asteroid and by that time about 1/4 of it had been mined out, by me!  The brave guy messaged me telling me its mission ore and I play it off innocently.  So at that time, I had mined about 1/4 of his stuff for him and its all sitting in a jetcan.  By the way, you couldn’t sell this stuff out on the open market.  I tried to make him pay me for the stuff, about 1 million ISK.  He disagreed and so I went back to station to grab my Blarpy (blaster Harpy) and quickly got back to my can of ore.

Just as you know it, he began to align to a station while his approach vector would pass him by the can… I had no choice but to lock, scram, web, and terminate that poor can.

When the deed was done, I left.

The second thing that happened to me was my agent told me of a mission called “Lights Out”.  In a very subtle way she told me to pay a “visit” to a “friend” and see if that certain “friend” wanted to negotiate a “deal”.  When I got to the meeting place, this “friend” brought more “friends” and I was “forced” to “defend” myself.  Seeing what was round me, I noticed there was a Gallentean Starbase and decided to do some “cleaning up” for my Caldari friends.  When the structure was “removed” I scooped up the “garbage” left behind and left on my merry way!

What I got from the “wrecks” were lots of good salvage, a Caldari Shuttle blueprint copy, POS fuels, and some charters.  Good rewards for keeping space “clean” eh?

That’s all I’ve been really up to Santa.

Oh and I would wish for a brand new ship this Christmas!  I didn’t like the 10 Carbon you dropped off for me last year mkay?

Evellery

Welcome to the Evellery Tony, we hope you have a pleasant day.

“There are so much things going on in Umokka!” I said to myself as I looked in awe of all the paintings and photos around me.  Yesterday I went out night-clubbing with a few of the crew after they helped me move everything over to the new HQ.  It did take a long time to pack everything, and after that, my badger was stuffed full of giant containers hauling them back and forth to carry everything.  The whole time, I wished I had a freighter!

My collection of ships were flown to the CNAP station at moon 4 and placed them in their holding bays.  While I was still at the old station, Arkiras congratulated me on my promotion to a better agent, then said something else about needing to retire as his boss’ daughter goes to stray pleasure gardens way too much…  Just before I hauled my last load of things over to the new HQ, he shook my hand and waved me goodbye; I just noticed he has a very firm handshake.

This Evellery in Umokka is very big, I took my time to enjoy all the pictures…

Review – Rokh

Rokh, the shiny expensive hybrid toy.

Amazing, yet you don’t see it in service as much as some of the other battleships, like the Raven. Why? Well, there are several reasons:

1. It’s shear expensiveness. The ship itself sells for about 110 million on market, about 20-30 million more than the Raven. Plus insurance and buying good fittings for it, that will in all put a 180-200 million ISK hole in your wallet. And since some people don’t know how to save ships from death, they don’t want to risk loosing their money.

2. It’s a very skill intensive ship. To pilot this beast it effectively, a lot of skills are needed. They include many gunnery skills trained up to at least level 4, along with some shielding skills, engineering skills, and electronic skills up to at the lowest 3.

3. It’s rails turn a lot of people away since most Caldarians like the traditional style of combat, which is hurling missiles. A majority of players trained up for heavy missiles, then cruise launchers because all we fly are Drakes, Ravens, Caracals, and the Kestrel frigate. These would be considered to be some of the more powerful ships to fly and easier to use. Velocity times flight time equals distance. With guns there are tracking speed, radial velocity, transversal velocity, radial velocity, velocity, signature radius, and finally you can figure out the gun’s optimal range.

But through this all, why do some people still purchase this ship? Let me tell you. The ship itself is very strong once the battleship skill reaches 4 or 5. Then the built-in tank works very well at 20-25 plus percent; its like a free invulnerability field built in! The range bonus help the massive guns reach ranges of 150 to 200 kilometers where you can pick ships off.

With this in mind, it takes the enemy a while before they can actually come close enough and hit you. A good word of warning though, when some ships get very close (less than 10km), it is nearly impossible to hit them. That’s when drones are essential, especially tech 2 drones because they do a lot more damage. Maybe fitting a nos on one of the high slots will dry off that pesky interceptor or frigate.

The tactic that I suggest with this ship is to first pick of and thin out the frigate fleet before they come too close and are orbiting too fast for your turrets to track or their transversal are too high to hit them for full damage with your guns. If you don’t take them out fast enough and they scrambled then that’s when things will go to hell. Make sure you focus fire on ships because each ship with 1 hitpoint does the same amount of damage and can still be as dangerous as a ship with 1000 hitpoints. Not only this but then it’s easier to kill them as they are receiving more DPS and can not tank, boost, or repair as if you split the damage two or three ways.

Then after the frigates are taken out and come too close, throw your drones on them and start hitting the battleships with the target painters on them to do full damage. By the time that the battleships are taken down, your tank should be able to hold much better and then the drones are taken out too! Remember that whenever you can warp at 100km, do it, because put some iron charges in and this way you don’t have to worry about getting hit, at least for a little while.

This ship definitely gives awe simply by its presence, especially in the some of the beginner systems, since it’s rarely spotted. It you are the pilot of this ship, join a fleet with some corp members and just go blasting the enemy away. One thing, I wouldn’t take this exotic ship through unfamiliar territories though, it’s far too expensive for most people to throw away. Well, unless you are a multi-billionaire.
